Naomi Woo is a celebrated Canadian conductor and pianist, recognized for her dynamic symphonic and operatic performances and her dedication to music education. Currently, she is the Music Director of NYO Canada, Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Artistic Partner of Orchestre Métropolitain Montréal.
The 2024-25 season marks exciting milestones for Naomi, including debuts with the Philharmonia Orchestra (London), Philadelphia Orchestra, Edmonton Symphony, Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra in Toronto. She also returns to the Toronto Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, and Orchestre Métropolitain. Highlights from 2023-24 included her inaugural tour and recordings with NYO Canada and engagements with leading ensembles like the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, National Arts Centre Orchestra, and Vancouver Symphony. She also led acclaimed opera productions in the UK with English Touring Opera and Opera Holland Park.
Past seasons feature debuts with prominent orchestras such as the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic, as well as operatic milestones like conducting Du Yun’s Angel’s Bone in Vancouver and Ellis Ludwig-Leone’sThe Night Falls in New York City. Naomi was the Winnipeg Symphony’s Assistant Conductor (2019-2023) and a 2022 winner of the Canada Council's Virginia Parker Prize. A Gates Cambridge Scholar, Naomi holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and degrees from Yale and Université de Montréal.
